Common Questions

Before You
Fill the Form

The questions we get asked most often before a first engagement. If yours is not here, call us — an engineer will answer it in under five minutes.

How quickly can you get to site?

For planned work, we typically mobilise within 5–10 working days depending on scope. For emergencies, we guarantee on-site arrival within 4 hours of your call — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That commitment is contractual.

Do you work outside of Yorkshire?

Yes. We operate nationally from our Sheffield and Glasgow facilities. Clients span the length of the UK — from Cornwall to the Highlands. Travel costs are included in our fixed-price quotes, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

What is included in a fixed-price quote?

Engineer time, travel, instrumentation, test report, and RAMS documentation. No day-rate additions, no variation orders on standard scope. If we underestimate the job, that is our problem — not yours.

Can you work within a live production environment?

Yes. Many of our techniques — thermal imaging, partial discharge detection, power quality monitoring — are conducted on fully energised, live equipment with no production interruption required. We identify the right technique for your constraint during the scoping call.

Are your test reports accepted by regulators and insurers?

Yes. All Caldwell instrumentation is calibrated to ISO 17025 and traceable to national measurement standards. Our reports are legally defensible in regulatory, insurance, and legal contexts. We have never had a report rejected.

Do you use subcontractors?

Never. Every engineer who arrives on your site is a directly employed Caldwell employee — trained, assessed, and accountable to us. We have operated this way since 1991 and have no intention of changing it.
